Welcome to your new memory
After we started in 2016 with our first B&B "The Apartment", we made the choice in early 2020 to go for a second experience "The Chalet".
Our B&Bs are located in district "de Koog", located in the park De Koog, so here you are not bothered by passing traffic.
Are you looking for peace, beach, nature reserves, dunes, water sports and a wide choice of activities? At B&B de Koog you have come to the right place.
If you choose "The Apartment", you and a maximum of two people will have a lovely space with a separate (partially open) floor for the sleeping area.
If you choose "The Chalet", you step into a completely different experience. With its own little porch and garden for two, this is a unique place to enjoy.
We hope you can continue your journey rested after your stay with us and look forward to seeing you again.
Ron & Bianca Ranzijn

Weather forecast in Uitgeest
Hiking and biking in the Uitgeest area
Along the shores of the Alkmaarder and Uitgeestermeer Lake there are beautiful cycling and hiking routes, such as the 'Ferry Route'. On this tour you will use a ferry several times to continue your voyage of discovery on the other side of the water. Around the lake are several beautiful and valuable natural areas.
The North-Hollandpad is a long-distance hiking trail along water, dunes, sheep, flower bulbs, historic villages, mills, pumping stations, farmland paths, dikes, ditches, draw ferries and heath. Basically everything that makes the Netherlands so special. The main route is 284 km long and divided into 16 stages ranging from 10 to 25km. We are added as ambassador on stage #11
Directions and more information can be found here : Noord-Holandpad, Recreatieschap and Wandelnetwerk Noord-Holland
Cycle junction network
The IJmond region is connected to the provincial bicycle junction network. The cyclist determines his own route and the number of kilometers he wants to cycle. Via the cycling junction network, you cycle from junction to junction. The network goes along existing bicycle paths and car-free rural roads. The cyclist can determine his further route at each node. Along the routes are signs indicating the route to the next nodes.
You can get a free Node Map from us, on which the nodes are printed in a convenient postcard format.

Sightseeing
Uitgeest is very centrally located near several highways (A9).
Historical sights in Uitgeest are the Dutch Reformed Church with 14th-century tower and the Roman Catholic Church in neo-Gothic style.
Around the village are five mills: De Dog, De Kat, the Dorregeester Mill, the Tweede Broeker Mill and the sawmill De Corneliszoon, the successor of the De Jonge Leeuw. The latter is located on the Lagendijk on the Industrial Heritage Park 'De Hoop'.
Within the municipality are two forts: Fort aan den Ham and Fort aan de Krommeniedijk (Fort K'IJK). The fort, located between Uitgeest and Krommenie, is open to visitors on the last Sunday of the month from April through October. Both forts are within the Defence Line of Amsterdam, a line of defense located ten to fifteen kilometers around the center of Amsterdam. The Stelling is 135 kilometers long, contains 42 forts and was constructed from 1880 to 1920. The Defense Line of Amsterdam is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Various seaside resorts including Castricum, Wijk aan zee, Egmond and Bergen are within cycling distance of the location. Of course, these seaside resorts are also accessible by car. Endless cycling, walking or running through the woods and dunes. When visiting the Noordhollands Duinreservaat you need a dune pass, but parking is free! Also visit visitor center De Hoep this is worthwhile. Did you know that the Noordhollands Duinreservaat is one of the largest nature reserves in our country? It is about 20 kilometers long and an average of 2.5 km wide, with an area of 5,300 hectares. The area includes dunes, beach, inner dune edge forests with lots of relief and some smaller nature reserves.

Zaanse Schans
The Zaanse Schans is a freely accessible commuting area anno 1850. Stroll past the bakery museum and enjoy the smell of fresh cakes, or take a look inside the warehouse where wooden shoes are made. Don't miss the cheese dairy, tinsmith's foundry and the various mills. The Zaanse Schans is a unique village in the Netherlands, full of wooden houses, mills, barns and workshops. Take a bike or boat ride, browse around the stores or come feast at the pancake restaurant. A day out at the Zaanse Schans in North Holland is fun and educational.
Flowering period
The Zaanse Schans offers a glimpse into the Zaan region's most important heyday: the 18th and 19th centuries. In the Zaan region, the oldest industrial area in Western Europe, about six hundred windmills were once active at the same time. This was a direct result of trade in the Dutch Golden Age (17th century). Thanks to creative Zaan entrepreneurs, numerous products rolled out of the industrial mills.
The Zaanse Schans is a historic Zaan neighborhood established in 1963 in the municipality of Zaanstad with national monumental wooden buildings and industrial mills from the Zaan region relocated there.
Over time, it has been supplemented by several cultural-historical museums, craft stores and restaurants. It is located in the Kalverpolder, a protected peat meadow landscape on the Zaan River, opposite the village of Zaandijk.
This architectural reserve for Zaanse timber construction is a protected village sight because of its architectural-historical and scenic value.
Several smaller and larger museums are located on the grounds:
- Zaans Museum
- Mill Museum
- Museum Zaanse Time
- bakery museum In de Gecroonde Duyvekater
- Museum store Albert Heijn
